March 23 Message from VCAA Joni Onishi

Aloha Esteemed Faculty and Lecturers,

I hope all of you are doing well and are ready to deploy your courses via distance learning. Spend this week reacquainting with your students and acquainting your students and yourself to the different modality of delivery. Please let your DC, Dean, or me know if there's anything you and/or your students need. We have resource people available to assist.

Aloha Faculty and Lecturers,

UH and Hawai`i CC are committed to completing the academic semester and enabling students to graduate on schedule. Hawai`i CC is transitioning to deliver most of its classes via distance education, either online or via Zoom/Real Presence/Google Meet to lessen the risk of our faculty, staff, and students contracting COVID-19.

I want to provide several updates, including UH President David Lassner’s most recent message, as well as other information specific to Hawai‘i CC. And as always, the situation is evolving and information provided is subject to change.

And...We're Live! Creative Media Students Get Valuable Experience Through Internship

For Elisabeth Saras, studying Creative Media at Hawai‘i Community College has been “life-changing.”

“This program helps you kind of try different things and really find what works for you,” said Saras, a Creative Media student who is graduating in May. “It gave me the courage and also just the resources to expand on this thing that I’ve always wanted to do but just never thought was possible.”
