Two Information Technology (IT) students participated in the Akamai Internship Program in the summer of 2017, which provided the students with valuable hands-on experience.
Christopher Roof interned at the Institute for Astronomy. He programmed using Python scripts to collect weather data and to store the results in a PostgreSQL database. He has been retained as a part-time observatory technician working on new projects in BASH scripting. He graduated from the Hawaiʻi CC IT program in May 2017 and is now a computer science major at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.
