HAWAI‘I CC WELCOMES NEW DEAN OF LIBERAL ARTS AND PUBLIC SERVICES AND NEW DIRECTOR OF NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH

Hawai‘i Community College hosted a kīpaepae welina welcoming ceremony on Thursday, June 1 to welcome Melanie Wilson, the new Dean of Liberal Arts and Public Services, and Laura Hill, the new Director of Nursing and Allied Health.

Hill and Wilson both bring many years of experience to their new positions at Hawai‘i CC.

HAWAIʻI CC AND UH HILO STUDENTS WIN A YEAR'S TUITION WITH BUSINESS PLANS

Students from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and Hawaiʻi Community College won a year’s free tuition for the business plans they submitted to the 2017 HIPlan Competition. Semifinalists in a competition between Hawaiʻi Island entrepreneurs pitched their business plans to judges on October 21. The 15 semifinalists competed for a $25,000 prize to use as seed money toward their vision.

ANNUAL MAHALO BREAKFAST BRINGS TOGETHER SCHOLARSHIP DONORS AND RECIPIENTS TO CELEBRATE THE IMPACT OF GIVING

Hawai'i Community College and the University of Hawai'i Foundation welcomed foundation donors and student scholarship recipients to the third annual Donor Mahalo and Student Scholarship Recognition Breakfast on November 3.  The event was held at the Hawai'i CC Manono Campus cafeteria with nearly 100 in attendance.

50 YEARS OF MODEL HOMES CELEBRATED AT ALUMNI AND FRIENDS EVENT AND DEDICATION CEREMONY

Hawai'i Community College celebrated 50 years of the Model Home Project on April 28 with a reunion event hosted by Hawai'i CC Alumni and Friends, followed by a dedication ceremony on May 11 where the college and the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands handed the house keys to this year's recipient.

To formally recognize community-based organizations for their support, the college established the Mahalo Award in 1995.

FIRE SCIENCE PROGRAM NOW AVAILABLE AT HAWAI‘I COMMUNITY COLLEGE – PĀLAMANUI

Hawai‘i Community College (Hawai‘i CC) is pleased to announce it will begin delivering its Fire Science program at the Hawai‘i CC – Pālamanui campus in Kona starting in the fall 2017 semester.

Hawai‘i CC began offering an Associate of Science in Fire Science in Hilo in 2005. It has become one of the most popular academic programs with 110 Fire Science majors currently enrolled.
