HAWAI‘I CC’S PHI THETA KAPPA WINS BIG AT THE 2017 REGIONAL CONVENTION
Hawai‘i Community College’s Alpha Psi Epsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society attended the 2017 Pacific Regional Convention at Kapi‘olani Community College where they were recognized with chapter and individual awards. These awards included:
- Distinguished Chapter Officer Team: Charles Bauguess, Jacob Blaw, Nicholas Eisen, Maile Kamau, Emmaline Villanos and Candace Wharton
- Distinguished Regional Officer Team Member: Nicholas Eisen
- Distinguished Chapter Officer: Maile Kamau
- Distinguished Chapter Member: Len Miyazono
- Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team: Karen Crowell, Kenoalani Dela Cruz and Dr. Donala Kawa‘auhau
- Continued Excellence Award for Advisors and Pineapple Bowl – Advisor Category Winner: Kenoalani Dela Cruz
- Regional Horizon Advisor Award: Karen Crowell
- REACH Award
- Two-star Chapter Development Status
"Mahalo to the entire Hawai‘i CC ‘ohana for your support of our student leaders and their fundraising efforts," said Phi Theta Kappa Lead Advisor Kenoalani Dela Cruz. "We also appreciate the Student Activities funds we received that provided chapters members the opportunity to attend leadership and honors conferences. Chartered in 1993, Alpha Psi Epsilon and its members represent the top 10 percent of students enrolled at Hawai‘i CC. Students must earn a 3.5 minimum, cumulative grade point average and 12 credits toward an associate's degree prior to being invited to join the society. Alpha Psi Epsilon members participate in year-round activities that promote the organization's four hallmarks: scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship.
