HAWAI‘I CC SEEKS COMMUNITY SUPPORT DURING ACCREDITATION

Aloha, Hawai‘i Community College is proud to be an institution of higher learning that is accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC).

Accreditation is an important process that helps uphold the quality of the education we deliver. ACCJC evaluation assures that Hawai‘i CC has clearly defined objectives appropriate to higher education; has established conditions under which their achievement can reasonably be expected; appears in fact to be accomplishing them; is so organized, staffed, and supported that it can be expected to continue to do so.

Every six years, we are evaluated by ACCJC in order to demonstrate institutional effectiveness, to improve academic quality, and achieve student success. This year is our accreditation year, and Hawai’i Community College seeks your support as we prepare for our accreditation evaluation visit October 16-18, 2018.

On these dates, the ACCJC evaluation team, which is comprised of representatives from peer institutions, will visit the campus.

You may lend your voice to the evaluation process by submitting your feedback and comments  about the College and our Institutional Self-Evaluation Report. Two ways you may contribute are:

  1. Submit a third party comment by completing the form at https://accjc.org/forms/third-party-comments/.

  2. Attend a open community forum scheduled on Tuesday, October 16 at 9:15 a.m. at Papa’a Hale or on Wednesday, October 17 at 4:30 p.m. at the Manono campus cafeteria. These forums will be hosted by members of the ACCJC evaluation team chaired by Dr. Mary Okuda, President of Guam Community College. Light refreshments will be served.

For 78 years Hawai‘i Community College has helped educate productive and engaged citizens capable of meeting the complex challenges of our island and global communities. Accreditation has been an important part of our history and is an important part of ensuring continued quality.

As Hawai’i Islandʻs community college, we hope that you can participate during this review and assist the College in its bid for affirmation of our accreditation standing. If you have any questions, you may contact our Accreditation Liaison Officer, Professor E. Kalani Flores at ekflores@hawaii.edu.
