Limited Access to Buildings Through April 30

This is a message sent to faculty and staff by Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services Ken Kaleiwahea.

Aloha faculty and staff,

A number of adjustments regarding campus facilities have been made due to a significant drop in usage as a result of the University's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as Governor Ige’s stay-at-home order through April 30.

During this time, there will be a number of buildings and bathrooms that will be CLOSED and a modified cleaning assignment will be in effect to allow personnel to focus on cleaning areas that must remain open to provide support services.

For those buildings that are CLOSED (see below):

  • Occupants with keys will still be able to access, if needed.
  • Cleaning and trash collection will not be provided for individual offices.
  • Please place any food waste in the nearest trash can on the exterior of the building.
  • Air conditioner schedules may be adjusted to help reduce electricity usage.

For those buildings that are OPEN (see below):

  • Daily cleaning and trash collection will be provided.
  • A limited number of restrooms will be open around campus.
  • Please help to maintain proper social distancing protocols.

As a reminder, please remember to wash your hands frequently to protect yourself.

Please direct any questions or concerns about COVID-19 to me at kjakalei@hawaii.edu.

Your cooperation and kokua during this challenging time is greatly appreciated. E mālama pono, Ken
