Services for DE Students

Student Support

The Office of Student Services provides all the necessary and complementary services related to the needs of students which are not directly instructional. The services are to better enable students to succeed in their learning experiences, adjust to the College and seek future goals in a more orderly fashion.

Counseling

Description:
Helps students develop academic and personal skills in order to succeed in college.

Services:

  • Assists students with the admissions and registration procedures.
  • Helps students with learning and study strategies.
  • Provides information about educational options, and transfer procedures.
  • Helps students with their career choices.
  • Helps students learn job search skills, including resume writing, interviewing, and locating employment on- and off-campus.
  • Helps students achieve positive relationships with self and others

Disability Services

Description:
Provides support services for students with disabilities

Services:

  • Supports educational equality in all HawCC programs and activities.
  • Supports reasonable academic accommodations.
  • Fosters a sensitive environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Provides consultation to students, faculty, and staff on disability issues and general access information.

Financial Aid

Description:
Assists current and prospective Hawaiʻi Community College students in funding their educational goals.

Services:

  • Assist students with the application process for financial aid and scholarships
  • Counsels students on financial aid probation, suspension, or termination.

Mental Wellness

Description:
Provides mental health services and consultations to students whose home campus is Hawaiʻi CC.

Services:

  • Provides a confidential, safe space for students.
  • Provides individual counseling sessions.
  • Connects students to external resources.

Learning Support

The Learning Center (TLC)

Description:
Located on the Upper Campus

Provides students with academic support services, and access to computer technology.

Services:

  • Provides tutoring for writing, ESL and math.
  • Provides an open study area.
  • Provides access to computers.

Online Tutoring

Description:
Provides students with tutoring via the web, either on-demand or by appointment.

Services:

  • UH Mānoa Online Learning Academy provides free one-on-one tutoring in Math, Science, and Writing for UH-system undergraduate College students.
  • UH Community Colleges offers free online on-demand tutoring through Tutor.com.
