Yes, students enrolled at a University of Hawaiʻi campus can take summer courses at any UH Community College campus. However, please check with your home campus counselor to ensure the credits will transfer toward your degree or certificate.

If you have completed your 2024-2025 FAFSA and are eligible for the Pell Grant, it will be applied to your outstanding balance after Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress is determined (no sooner than the beginning of June). If you have not completed your 2024-2025, you may do so online at studentaid.gov/fafsa.

It depends on your goals. One 3-credit class in 6 weeks is intense but manageable. Work with a counselor to create a plan.

The summer session is typically in 2 sessions. To receive full VA education benefits, students must be enrolled in at least 4 credits per summer session and take at least one in-classroom course. For DoD Military Tuition Assistance (TA), students must be enrolled in 4 or more credits per summer session to be considered full-time.

Please contact a counselor for more information and any inquiries.

  • Full-time = 12+ credits
  • Three-Quarter-time (3/4x) = 9 - 11 credits
  • Half-time (1/2x) = 6 - 8 credits
  • Less-than-half-time (<1/2x) = 1 - 5 credits
  • Please contact our Financial Aid Office for more information.

Tuition deadlines vary. Check the academic calendar page for exact dates.

Counselors are here to help! Hawaiʻi CC students, schedule an appointment to plan your summer courses.
