SUBMIT EVIDENCE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Obtain a letter from your bank or your sponsor's bank (on bank stationery) verifying savings of at least $26,380 USD for the first year of study. The letter should be dated within 90 days from date of application. Your financial sponsor should also fill out section C2 on the Supplemental Information Form. Please understand that our associate degree programs typically take two years to complete and as an international student you will be required to maintain full-time status by enrolling in 12 credits or more each semester

DEMONSTRATE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for international candidates whose native language is not English. A minimum TOEFL score of 61 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or 500 (paper-based test) is required. Scores must be less than two years old and must be sent directly to Hawai‘i Community College (code #4322) from ETS. For information about TOEFL, visit the website at www.toefl.com

A score of 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is accepted. For information about IELTS, visit the website at www.ielts.org

A score of Grade 2A on the EIKEN is accepted. For more information about EIKEN, visit the website at www.eiken.or.jp/eiken/en/eiken-tests/overview/

A score of 1076 on the Global Test of English Communication (GTEC) is accepted. For more information about GTEC, visit the website at www.benesse.co.jp/gtec/english/. A score of 95 on the Duolingo English Test is accepted. For information about the Duolingo English Test, visit the website at https://englishtest.duolingo.com/. A score of 33-50 (B2 exam) on the International ESOL (iESOL) test is accepted. For information about the iESOL test, visit the website at https://www.languagecert.org/en. Scores must be from a test no earlier than two years prior to the date of enrollment. In addition, Global Village Hawai'i completion of Level 6 or placement into Level 7 will demonstrate English proficiency.

International students who do not have meet the English proficiency requirement to enter Hawai'i Community College's credit classes can begin their studies at the Intensive English Program (IEP). After successfully completing this program, students may enter Hawai'i Community College credit classes without a TOEFL, IELTS or GTEC CBT score.

FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS (FROM ANOTHER US INSTITUTION)

If you are currently attending another college in the United States, submit the Transfer Request Form [PDF] to the International Student Office at your school. Once the form is complete, please have the college send the form directly to Hawai'i Community College. If you would like to initiate an evaluation of the credits you previously earned to see if they are transferable to Hawaii CC, please request for an official copy of your transcript and course descriptions to be mailed directly to:

To be considered official, the transcript has to be sent directly to Hawaii CC from the institution in which the courses were taken. Hand carried transcripts are not acceptable, even if the envelope has not been opened.

Students who have not demonstrated good academic standing at their previous school will not be accepted.

APPLY FOR YOUR STUDENT VISA

Once accepted, HAWAII CC will mail your Form I-20 which is the document you will need to apply for your F-1 student visa. Check with your local Embassy or Consulate for more information.
