Hawai‘i Community College Boosts Fleet with Generous Vehicle Donation
HILO, HAWAI‘I – July 10, 2025 — Hawai‘i Community College is cruising into the new academic year with the addition of three brand-new vehicles, thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous benefactor and Servco Toyota Hilo. The gift includes two Toyota RAV4s and an energy-efficient Toyota Camry hybrid electric vehicle — offering both practicality and sustainability for campus needs.
The vehicles will support a range of college operations, including transportation for academic programs, community outreach, and student support services.
The donation comes at a time when the college was in critical need of updated transportation. Many of the existing vehicles in the campus fleet were aging and required frequent maintenance, which limited their reliability and efficiency. The arrival of newer, more energy-efficient vehicles will greatly enhance the college’s capacity to serve students and the community.
"This donation is a meaningful investment in the success of our students and programs," said Hawai‘i Community College Chancellor Susan Kazama. "With these new vehicles, we’ll be able to expand our reach and strengthen our support services across the island at our various campus locations. We are sincerely thankful to our donor and to Servco Toyota Hilo for making this possible.”
