This dictionary came about when I was
doing a research project looking for the semiotic definitions of words.
I came across a few dictionaries that were helpful but none of them were
as comprehensive as I required. The criteria I have chosen to follow encompasses
the semiotic, mythological, popular cultural, literary, contemporary, and/or
historically obscure definitions. My ultimate hope is for this dictionary
to evolve to become a useful tool for creative writers bringing together
the representative as well as literal meanings to create stronger stories
in modern literature. The following is a list of criteria with which I
have decided upon what words I will use in my dictionary.
