Hawaiʻi Community College

Hawaiʻi Community College at the University of Hawai'i Center, West Hawaiʻi coordinates access to courses and programs from the entire University of Hawaiʻi System.

Application Deadline: Tuition Costs:
Fall 2013: August 1, 2013
Spring 2014: December 2, 2013
Resident $106.00 per Credit
Non-Resident $304.00 per Credit
Note for students planning to attend the University of Hawaiʻi Center at West Hawaiʻi: Students with fewer than 55 credits must apply to and be accepted by Hawaiʻi CC. Students who have completed 55 credits or an Associate of Arts degree may apply for a baccalaureate degree program offered through another UH campus. Classes are hosted at the UH Center in West Hawaiʻi.

 

Liberal Arts (LBRT) AA

The associate in arts degree program, also referred to as the Liberal Arts Program, is designed for students who are preparing themselves to transfer to a four-year college or university

Early Childhood Education (ECED) CC, CA, AS

The ECED program is for people who work with young children & their families in a variety of early childhood program. The certificates prepares students for support roles in early childhood, while the AS degree prepares students to be teachers in early childhood programs.

Culinary (CULN) CC, CA, AAS

The CULN program is designed to provide for entry-level employment in hotels, full service restaurants, institutions, (schools, hospitals, corrections, etc.) and private clubs.

Hawaiʻi Life Styles (HLS) ASC

The Hawaiʻi Life Styles ASC supports students interested in exploring and experiencing Native Hawaiian Life Styles. Learners may specialize in the Subject Certificate while fulfilling the program requirements for any major at HawCC. The curriculum provides a strong, functional Hawaiian Life Styles foundation.

Hawaiʻi Life Styles – Hula Track (HLS Hula) AAS

The A.A.S. degree in Hula prepares students to understand the depth and breadth of Hula science that encompasses an interdisciplinary local and global knowledge base.

Hawaiian Studies – (HWST) AA

The A.A. Degree is designed for students who intend to complete their AA degree and transfer to a four year baccalaureate. The degree Hawaiian Studies provides a strong foundation of Hawaiian culture through hula and it designed for students of all skill levels; from the non-dancer to the life-long learner.

Hospitality & Tourism (HOST) CC, CA, AAS

The Hospitality and Tourism program is designed to provide students with job training for entry-level and first line supervisory level positions in the hospitality / visitor industry and ensure skilled pool of workers and continuously meet the industry’s employment demand on the Island of Hawaiʻi.

Human Services (HSER) CC

The HSERV certificate prepares students for entry and mid-level positions in group homes and halfway houses, correctional, mental retardation and community mental health centers: family, child & youth agencies: and programs concerned with special needs such as alcoholism, drug abuse family violence, homelessness & aging.

Nursing (NURS) AS

The LPN and the RN program prepare students to take the state examination for licensure. Graduates of either of these programs are qualified to work in hospital, long-term care facilities and community –based settings.

Substance Abuse Counseling (SUBS) CC

A 21 credit certificate of completion in Substance Abuse Counseling is offered for students interested in a career in substance abuse counseling. Credit and non-credit courses are offered for in services substance abuse, human service, and criminal justice professionals seeking to develop and /or upgrade their skills in working with individuals and families who suffer as a result of chemical abuse or dependency.

Tropical Forest Ecosystem and Agroforestry Management (TEAM) CA, AS

Students learn to actively manage Hawaiʻi native forest ecosystems, grow native plants, establish agroforestry operations, use Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
