PHI THETA KAPPA STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARDS AT CONVENTION

Hawai‘i Community College’s Alpha Psi Epsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recently attended the Pacific Regional Convention held at Leeward Community College where members received awards for service completed in the 2015 calendar year. The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the international honor society of two-year colleges and academic programs, particularly community colleges and junior colleges.

Student leaders Desiree DeCanto-Gardner, Nicholas Eisen, Sean Kirkpatrick, Piadora Mana and Candace Wharton received the 2016 Distinguished Chapter Officer Team award.

Vice President of Membership, Desiree DeCanto-Gardner, was recognized as the 2016 Distinguished Chapter Officer and Valerie Belcher was recognized as the 2016 Distinguished Chapter Member.

Conference attendees learned more about Phi Theta Kappa’s 2016-2018 Honors Study Topic, “How The World Works: Global Perspectives” and about Phi Theta Kappa’s programs and initiatives. They worked in seminar groups, listened to speakers and competed in the Annual Pineapple Bowl.
