EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM HOLDS ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The Hawai'i CC Early Childhood Education (ECE) program hosted its 4th Annual Mary Goya Conference last month, named after retired professor and founder of the ECE program Mary Goya.

The conference provides an opportunity for members of the local childcare community to convene. Approximately 50 people attended this year. Current Hawai'i CC ECE students helped organize the conference as part of their service learning for their upper-level classes. The conference gives current students an opportunity to network with potential employers.

The conference theme this year was "Caring for the Caregivers." Participants were pampered with massages, made sugar scrubs, bath salts and other items to take home, learned some yoga, and enjoyed delicious snacks and smoothies, among other activities.
