This year marks the 20th Annual "A Taste of Hilo" event, sponsored by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawaii (JCCIH). A Taste of Hilo has become a local tradition that showcases dozens of the island’s tastemakers and beverage purveyors each year. Attendees enjoy sweet and savory delights created by chefs, restaurants and patisseries, and sample locally crafted beer, wine and sake. Each year, a different local ingredient is featured.
Every year, JCCIH donates proceeds from the event to Hawai'i Community College, which helps fund student scholarships and awards, college-wide benefits and program improvements. Since the fund was created with University of Hawai'i Foundation in 1999, JCCIH has donated $136,516.
This year, A Taste of Hilo will be on Sunday, October 21 at Sangha Hall, from 1-3 p.m.
