Students complete 52nd model home

On May 9, Hawai'i Community College, community partners, supporters and others celebrated the completion of the 52nd Model Home designed, built and landscaped by Hawai‘i CC students. Handing over the keys and house plans to the family that will call this place home was a special occasion as always.

The Model Home Project is a partnership with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands that provides an amazing learning opportunity for Hawai‘i CC students and a home for a Native Hawaiian family. The Architectural, Engineering and CAD students design the home; the Carpentry students handle construction; Diesel Mechanics students perform heavy equipment repair; the Electrical Installation and Maintenance Technology students do the wiring; and the Hawaiian Studies program performs the blessing. Truly a Kauhale effort!
