Located in the heart of Honokaʻa on Hawaiʻi Island’s beautiful Hāmākua Coast, the Kō Education Center serves as Hawaiʻi Community College’s hub for education, workforce development, and community engagement in North Hawaiʻi.
Kō Education Center is dedicated to increasing access to higher education and lifelong learning opportunities for students and community members across North Hawaiʻi. Through face-to-face classes, continuing education programming, workforce training, and student support services, Kō provides opportunities for learners to begin, continue, and advance their educational journeys close to home.
The center serves as a Student Technology Resource Center, offering computer access, study space, and support for University of Hawaiʻi testing services, including placement and distance education testing. Students can access academic resources while completing coursework in a supportive learning environment.
Beyond academic programs, Kō Education Center provides continuing education courses and community-based programming that respond to regional interests and workforce needs. Workshops, cultural events, career exploration activities, and lifelong learning opportunities strengthen connections among students, families, employers, and community organizations.
The center has expanded its facilities to better serve the region and now includes modern classrooms, conference and meeting space, a commercial kitchen, and lab classroom space that support workforce training, educational programs, and community partnerships.
