State and Institutional Grants

UH Opportunity Grant is a University of Hawaii grant that is awarded based on financial need. It requires at least half-time (6 credit hours) enrollment at Hawaii Community College.

Native Hawaiian Tuition Waiver is a Hawaii Community College tuition waiver based on financial need and Hawaiian ancestry. Tuition waiver applies only to Hawaii Community College credits. It requires at least half-time (6 credit hours) enrollment.

Hawai‘i Promise Scholarship is a need-based award intended to be applied toward the unmet need of qualified students enrolled at any community college campus of the University of Hawai‘i.  Hawaii Promise will be adjusted as needed until the Lock enrollment period (Usually the third week of school). Once we lock enrollment, Hawaii Promise will be recalculated prior to disbursement the following day.

Hawaii Community College Achievement Grant is awarded to students who have demonstrated achievement or service to the college (e.g. student government officers). It requires at least half-time (6 credit hours) enrollment at Hawaii Community College.

Hawaii B+ Scholarship is awarded to incoming students who have just graduated from a public high school in the State of Hawaii, had a high school 3.0 GPA, had a rigorous high school curriculum, and have demonstrated financial need. It requires full-time (12+ credit hours) enrollment.

Second Century Scholars Program is a state program with grant monies available to students with Native Hawaiian Ancestry who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours).
