Overview Friday April 18, 2008 By Noelie Rodriguez HawCC’s 20th EARTH FAIR Friday April 18th 9AM – 4PM Upper Campus: Library Lanai COME ONE! COME ALL! It’s the biggest event HawCC puts on each year. The EARTH FAIR is our big outreach to the people of the Big Island where we host them to a day of fun, frolic and education. This year there will be even more exhibits and more giveaways. Hawaii Community College's 20th ANNIVERSARY Earth Fair will feature as our guest star this year Hawai'i's famous actor and environmentalist: JASON SCOTT LEE along with a presentation from Al Gore's film, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, for KIDS by Dr. JOSH COOPER. This year the event goes from
9AM to 10 PM. The morning from 9 to 12 is for the school field trips. The
public should come at noon. There will be: 70 BOOTHS AND EXHIBITS. Plus:
ENTERTAINMENT ALL DAY including Belly Dancers, Fire Dancers, Puppets, Hula,
Gymnastics, AFRO-CUBAN DRUMMING, CLOWNS, JUGGLERS, and more. ENVIRONMENTAL
VIDEOS will be available for the kids and for the general public. At 4:00
most of the exhibitors will leave and then from 5PM to 10PM there will be a
great EARTH FAIR RAGGAE BAND CONCERT including "HUMBLE SOUL," "JahWorks the
Revolutionary" and "The Rootz" -- on the Library Lanai. EVERYTHING IS
FREE and there will be many, many surprises and giveaways. The public leaves
the Earth Fair with bags full of gifts, plants, goodies, and tons of
informational brochures. Forest Team will give out over 1,000 FREE NATIVE
TREE SEEDLINGS and plants. FREE LEMONADE, FREE POPCORN, FREE FRUITS, FREE
COOKIES and many other [surprise!] giveaways will be available for the public to
take home in free cloth shopping bags.
Parking is free. The "Fair Grounds" are on the upper campus:
extending from the CC Plaza to the Library Lanai. There will also be a KIDS
ENVIRONMENTAL POSTER EXHIBIT along the outside of Kanakaole Building. The
booths and exhibits will give out important educational information to help make
us all better Earth Citizens. The Fair is offers hours of fun and frolic. It
is a celebration of Life that also disperses important environmental news
and education to our island community to make us into better Earth Citizens. COME TO THE FAIR!!! There will be clown/balloon sculptors, face painters, and much frolic. Over 70 exhibitors will bring free information, model cars, bikes, and giveaways to educate and amaze the fairgoers.
