ABOUT THE CENTER

The Hawai’i Community College Children’s Center is the primary training site for Early Childhood Education students enrolled in Certificate and Degree programs here at the Hawai’i Community College.

The Children’s Center provides care and education for children of students, faculty, and staff of Hawai’i Community College and University of Hawai’i at Hilo, who are between the ages of 18 months and 5 years of age.

The Teachers at the Children’s Center have specialties in Early Childhood Education.

 Early Childhood Laboratory Students work as teacher's aides in the Center.

ADMISSION AND APPLICATION

Application for childcare is available to parents currently registered or have received acceptance into Hawai’i Community College or University of Hawai’i at Hilo. Children of faculty and staff from both campuses are also welcomed.

Priority for enrollment will be given to:

  1. Returning families.

  2. Parents who are full-time students

  3. Parents who are part-time students

  4. Faculty and staff

ENROLLMENT

1.    Application available for pick up from the Center Monday following Thanksgiving and Monday following Spring Break

2.    Pick-up, complete and return an application to the Center.

3.    After the application has been processed you will be notified and a $30.00 application fee is due to secure your child’s space.

4.    Form 14 (physical) and TB must be completed before school starts

5.    Service to children with special needs will be evaluated in a case-by-case basis.

6.    Additional forms will need to be completed before school starts.

Tuition: 

Toddlers:  $2,200.00 per semester or 4 payments of  $550.00

Preschool: $2,120.00 per semester or 4 payments of $530.00

Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included.

Families may be qualified to receive tuition assistance or scholarships from various sources (Open Doors, Childcare Connection, Kamehameha Puahi Scholars, Financial Aid, etc.)

 

The Hawai’i Community College Children’s Center follows the University of Hawai’i academic school calendar.

The Toddler classroom accepts children from 18 months of age. 7:30am– 2:00pm Monday through Friday

The Preschool classroom accepts children from 2.6 to 5 years of age. 7:30am –3:00pm Monday through Friday

We welcome children with special needs.
